Maqolada o‘rta asrlar arab-musulmon falsafasining yirik nomoyondasi Ibn Rushdning erkinlik va zaruriyat tushunchalarining deterministik aloqasi о‘rganilgan. Uning nuqtayi nazari mutafakkir zamondoshlarining fikrlarini inkori, tanqidi va rad etishi   asosida yoritilib berilgan. O‘rta asr falsafasida davrdagi erkinlik va zaruriyat atamalari diniy-falsafiy qarashlar uyg‘unligi asnosida kо‘rib chiqilgan. Taqdir va erk masalalari o‘rtasidagi aloqaga e’tibor qaratilgan.
